People

Successful investing is a team sport, and since the beginning, our founders instilled in our culture a collaborative approach forgoing the popular “star manager” model. Since our inception in 1993, every mandate has been managed by a team of Portfolio Managers. Our current portfolio management team, Shirley Woo, Arjun Kumar, Christopher Rankin and Jonathan Singer have over 60 years of combined investment management experience, and over two decades of experience working collaboratively at Sprucegrove.

Sprucegrove’s Investment Team has approximately 250 years of collective industry knowledge. One investment team supports our four investment mandates at Sprucegrove.

Succession Planning

Our collaborative approach serves our firm and our clients well on many levels. One of those is mitigating against key person risk. Each mandate is managed by a team of co-leads, ensuring that we have a structured portfolio management system in place.

Sprucegrove also has a well-established succession plan for its investment team and executive management. This has proven effective as the founders have long retied, and we move forward with our fourth generation leadership team.
